i’ve been working on my garden for a while. i have pretty much put everything on the back burner to finish it up so i can get my seedlings in the ground. i haven’t been scouring blogs, reading, cutting out recipes, i have pretty much have had garden fever.

i started my garden back in april. i planted all my seeds and waited for germination (i was weeks later then last year). in the process stella managed to eat a half a tray of seedlings, which in turn left me with a tray of unmarked seedlings, a couple didn’t grow and the ones that did tangled together because i did not get to them fast enough.

gardening for me is a learning experience. every year something is different, something happens and i am constantly learning what can grow where (or what my dog prefers to eat). just like food, gardening is a passion. i love it as much as i love to take pictures, finding good recipes, or reading a good book.

i just wanted to share some pictures with you…so you can see what i have been up to :-)

that is my gardening bed, i built it from a box. it took some effort but with in an afternoon, an electric screwdriver, a drill and my babysitter i was able to get it together.

this is a strawberry. i finally bought a plant instead of growing it from seeds, it never works for me. so far we have 5 strawberries growing. i am pretty sure that will be it for the season, but next year, i will have double that, the year after, triple.

this is the curry plant i told you about the other day. i love walking over to it and running my fingers through the stems. the smell is something else. it smells like i have been cooking in my kitchen all day. isn’t is interesting? it looks somewhere between a lavender and a rosemary plant.

right now my garden is covered in a tarp (which is not really helping). we have been having lots of rain here. yesterday i woke up to all my tomato plants floating out of my garden bed. i have been running in and out between storms checking on the tarp and emptying the water collecting on top as well as all the water collecting in the bed. at the end of the day…it’s all worth it :-) that is until the next storm comes later on today and takes out everything.
