hey everyone. it’s been a hot one right? how many bbq’s did you attend this past weekend? how many hamburgers did you have?

we lived on salads for the most part this past weekend. although we bbq’d alot and went to a  couple of parties, we mainly ate at home. we started off our bbq with these great hamburgers. portabellas were a great addition to the everyday burger. as well as hamburgers. the kids and i lived on pasta salad. we added to our repertoire with a new one, corn, avocado & bean salad as well as an oldie but goodie, potato salad.

question of the week:

as well as cooking, i have been getting a lot of emails, the biggest question was about garlic scapes. i am so happy your all experimenting with food. how exciting. one of the many questions i received this week, do you eat the flower bud? (were you wondering that too?) the answer is no, every recipe and every thing i have googled states to cut it off, i ate it though, and maybe i was just lucky, but nothing happened to me :-)

if you have any questions you want answered or perhaps a recipe and pictures you would like to share, please email me. i love getting email. thefoodyenta@yahoo.com.

on the garden (or shall i say jungle) front, we harvested our first zucchini. it was wonderful, i love eating food from the garden. it makes me feel great. i am looking forward to picking some cucumbers this weekend as well as some green tomatoes. i have always wanted to try and make fried green tomatoes. don’t ask, mainly it’s because of the movie, i’m weird like that. our lettuce is starting to come back and the strawberries are growing like mad (we added a strawberry plant my neighbor gave me).

have a great weekend!
