happy friday everyone! TGIF! i’m feeling a little antsy this morning, no pun intended for those of you who know what i’ve been dealing with all week. the last thing i want to be doing on this beautiful day is to be on the computer. so i am going to be make this weeks roundup short and sweet.

there’s been a lot of action in my neck of the woods this week. i wrote my first guest post (very exciting), i finally figured out a great way to use my leftovers, i burned a chicken, and figured out my favorite salad dressing. all in all, been a pretty good week.

on the garden front:

my garden is growing like crazy. last night i went in there, i don’t get a chance to do that often, and cleaned house. i ripped up a huge chunk of cucumber vines that have been taking over and got rid of my peas (cucumbers managed to strangle them). 3 eggplants out of no where have blossomed and my lima beans are finally starting to plump up. nothing on my tomatoes however, still green. all of them, and there is a lot of them. one thing i did find, little small melons. 3 ripe ones. yum. to be honest i have no idea what they are (i was told they might be a kind of asian melon). they are very mild, not very sweet, and taste somewhere between a honeydew and a….i have no idea but they are delish! we have 10 more on the vine which the kiddies can’t wait to devour.

on the market front:

as well as every other week, we scored big time. my kids are really getting into the market. j saw them setting up early wednesday and was so excited. because our farmers are so nice, they let j taste test everything. i’m sure being a little cute blue eyed blondie helps, the kid is just not afraid. one thing he did find us this week, dragon tongue beans. those are the little purple and white ones below. they were crisp and so good. we have been eating them raw, little pieces of heaven. next time i have to get 2 bags. the little bello mushrooms were awesome too, we have been stuffing them with goat cheese and baking them for snacks.

did you hit the market this week? what did you score?

today is j’s last day of camp so i am headed out to party with some 5 year olds! have a great weekend everyone! see you monday!
