• 2 egg whites
  • 1 pound of walnuts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup of sugar

a couple weeks back i was at a meeting. i sat down at the table and looked over the selection of little treats that our host put out. there were cookies and fruit, nuts and cakes. if i was able to eat i wouldn’t of been able to decide what to eat first. everything looked so good. figures that of all people i have to have a meeting at a house of a women known around town for her baking. folks this only happens to me. i was preparing for my cleanse.

i drank water the whole night and snacked on grapes, this is until the end of the meeting when i heard someone talking about the walnuts.

i am not a huge fan of walnuts. the only reason i would ever have walnuts in my house, vegetarian chopped liver. we only make that once a year if that though and last year we went with out. it’s just not one of my favorite nuts. not one i would pick up or have around. until i tried one. i couldn’t resist. how could the whole table be wrong?

i placed this walnut in my mouth and fireworks went off. i am now a forever walnut fan and i owe it all to sheri over at donuts, dresses and dirt.

if you follow me on fb or even on twitter you have seen my link ups to her posts. i am a huge sheri fan. huge. i love her honesty and her way of making even the biggest of baking recipes easy to follow. the only thing better would be having sheri baking with me (one day, you all know i need a couple lessons). sheri is one of my favorite people and one of my favorite bloggers, i am a huge fan and if you take a look at what she has going on there, you will be too.

sheri’s spiced walnuts     donuts, dresses and dirt

to prep: pre-heat oven to 300. line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

  1. whisk 2 egg whites and add nuts. let the walnuts soak in the egg whites for 5 minutes.
  2. combine sugar and spices in a separate bowl. when the 5 minutes are up toss sugar mixture with nuts until well coated.
  3. lay nuts out on baking sheet and bake for an hour, stirring every 15 min (be careful they are hot, i learned the hard way).
  4.  cool and enjoy.

these walnuts, if you don’t eat them all in one sitting, can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a month.
