• 4 cups of apple cider
  • 5 cloves
  • 1 inch of ginger peeled
  • 1 star anise
  • 2 peels of a lemon (just use a potato peeler)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cardamon pods
  • a shot of rum

hey everyone! how was your holiday? ours was great. dinner went over well and we are getting back into routine. today we went apple picking.

it was a very overcast and chilly day. although apple picking was a blast, it left me with a chill i just couldn’t shake. so, as i type this i am sipping some mulled apple cider. not just hot apple cider, mulled apple cider. what is mulled you might ask?

“mulled” apple cider just means apple cider that has been heated slowly with spices. it’s not complicated, it just sits on your stove top and simmers away. a half an hour covered is all it needs.

hot apple cider is one thing, but simmering it with spices is a whole different story. the taste of hot apple cider spiced with ginger, cloves, lemon peel…i can go on and on…is amazing. after a chilly day it’s a lovely hot drink to sit down and read a book with (especially when you spike it with some rum).

a special saturday post to keep you warm and cozy. have a great rest of your weekend!
