  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup ketchup

my days haven’t seemed to calm down.

i vividly remember lazy days with my kids…hanging out till whenever in our pj’s, late breakfasts, morning walks, taking our time and enjoying life.

kids get older, school happens…and then you go back to work. lazy days seem no more.

there is soccer on the weekends, hebrew school on sunday’s, ballet, basketball in the fall, birthdays parties…it never ends. never a dull moment. no more lazy mornings. no more lazy days…it all running all the time.

pick up from school and go there…get home 10 minutes before dinner. realize you defrosted a pound of meat yet there is no time to do what you wanted with it. and then this happens…

you remember that can from childhood. the one they served for school lunch but it was always covered in a layer of fat so you ate french fries instead. the can your mom never let you buy no matter how many of your friends were eating it. you craved going to that friends house because they ate it. their mom made it. your mom made tofu patties (no offense mom, your tofu patties rocked). you get over it. but that can always stays with you. that can. that can…

homemade sloppy joes

  1. to a saute pan add canola oil and saute onion and garlic for about 5 minute or until they start to turn golden in color.
  2. add chopped meat to pan and start the browning process.
  3. while meat is browning mix all the spices (the last 7 ingredients) together and whisk.
  4. when meat is almost browned, add spices and mix. cook until meat is cooked.

serve with fresh bread, on rolls, with salad or sliced veggies like carrots or cucumber.

sit back, enjoy, and talk about your day.
