• 4 tablespoons of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • a little less then 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (you need a little of this in there, trust me)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 3 teaspoons sea salt

i found this recipe saturday morning. i love taco’s, actually i love everything that has to do with mexican or tex mex foods. in college i lived on tex mex, really filling and just yummy, not to mention really cheap and open all night long. i haven’t made taco’s in years. burritos yes, taco’s no. i wasn’t sure if the kids would even be big fans.

your probably saying right now, why would you make your own taco/chili seasoning when you can buy it from a store? good question. msg, all sorts of dyes and chemicals, why not make it? almost all the seasonings you need are in your pantry and easily found at any store. i love that i can give my kids something homemade and something i know contains only spices.

this recipe is adapted from my baking addiction. although the original recipe is awesome (e and i loved it) it was really to spicy for the kids. my kid’s took one bite and this was j’s exact words “mom! my mouth is on fire!” (i didn’t think it was that hot, but i love the spice). so we made it again and adjusted the seasonings. i love spicy foods, if you do too, refer back to her blog for the original recipe, e and i loved it, really loved it. i have one canister for e and i, or one for family meals.
