- 1 avocado
- 2 tbl red onion minced
- 1/2 lime - just the juice
- 1 tsp cilantro chopped finely
so…you getting ready for the superbowl? e considers it a national holiday. me, i am just siked for the food. hot wings, salsa, chips, chili, all sorts of good things. one of my favorites is guacamole. mostly because i love avocados.
when i was growing up, during the summer, i would go visit my uncle. we would sit around his kitchen, which we still do, and cook. i mean meals like you wouldn’t believe. he is an exceptional cook. a lot of what i learned is from watching him. he opened up my eyes to all these great foods that i would never ever think of cooking. one thing that always stood out as his guacamole, why i am not sure. he cooked up 5 course meals and i still remember the guac. we used to make it first and snack on it while cooking our meal. as we got older we would make the guacamole, some sangria and head out to the pool:-) dinner waited.
this is a simple guacamole recipe that is not my uncles, but something that happened through out the years in my own kitchen. i have tons of experiments.
guacamole
- cut your avocado in half (save the seed) and mush with the back of your fork. when fully mashed, add your onion, lime juice and cilantro. mix together and serve.
taste and season with salt and pepper if needed. sometimes e likes a little heat, so i add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a i add half a chili pepper if i have one around
so why did you save the seed. if you make in advance, leave the seed in the guacamole, it wont turn brown.
I never knew that about the seed. I'm going to try that the next time I make guacamole.
great tip on the seed. never heard that either.
