• 1 cup of your favorite chocolate
  • 10 strawberries
  • candy hearts

i was trying to come up with something cute for the kids and e for valentine’s day. as you know i am not such a great baker. i can follow a recipe but it never looks like the original and it takes me a lot longer and then i panic. i thought this would be great, plus i could get the kid’s involved.

ok, yes, very messy for a 4 and 2 year old but oh did they have fun. i did too, it was so cute to watch them dip the strawberries and try and sneak little candy hearts when they thought i wasn’t looking.

something even cuter, watching them eat them…chocolate was everywhere!

making chocolate covered strawberries is very easy, much easier then i thought. to prepare line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside…

chocolate covered strawberries

  1. clean your strawberries and gently dry off.
  2. in a double boiler, melt your chocolate. i was also told if i kept and eye on it, which is hard for me to do with 2 kids, i could melt it right on the stove top.when the chocolate melted, i spooned into a bowl so neither i or the kid’s can burn themselves. dip your strawberries in the chocolate and lay out on the lined cookie sheet. after about 40 seconds or so you can place the hearts on the chocolate. i held it in place for about 5 seconds.
  3. refrigerate for at least 10 minutes. the longer i left them in the fridge, the better it tasted.

my sister is a chef, she specializes in pastry. oh my can this girl bake. this morning she called to tell me she made chocolate covered strawberries, i just laughed and told her what we had just done. i made her send me a picture. she is way better at this then me, but she is trained. she gave me a great tip i am going to pass on to you, let chocolate harden before decorating. drizzle with chocolate or if using sprinkles apply before completely hard.

so what are you doing for valentine’s day? i have one more special meal for you.
