we have cooked a lot this past weekend. the storm and all…we were trapped and there wasn’t much else to do. we were very lucky, little water in the house and we kept our power. none of our tree’s fell, which i was very thankful for, unfortunately there were others who weren’t as lucky as we were.

i don’t get to watch the news a lot but what i have seen of the aftermath is just awful. being a born and raised ny’er i have mostly been concentrating on what has been going on here. upstate ny, about 2 hours from here got hit really hard. here is a link to just some of the destruction (here). there are so many people who lost everything and i feel like i am not doing anything to help anyone. honestly, i am not sure what to do, and then i found this.

as many of you know i am a huge beekman 1802 fan. i am a fan on fb and i follow their website/blog all the time. i don’t know josh and brent but i love them. what they do for their community and their surrounding area is amazing. they brought life back to sharon springs (there was life there before, they just put the town on the map). unfortunately schoharie county got hit really hard. some towns were lucky but some, not so much. on their emails and fb page they are asking people to donate to:

Schoharie County Community Action Program
795 East Main Street Suite 5
Cobleskill, New York 12043-1436

this is a real great way to donate to the farmers who need your help. they are the ones who are at your farmers markets and the ones who make your milk and cheese. so if you have a couple extra dollars and you want to donate, please do so.

if you know of other donation sites please feel free to post a comment here and let everyone know (the destruction is up and down the coast, any donation site is welcomed).

stay safe everyone, our thoughts are with you.
