- apples
- non stick spray
- baking sheets
- an oven
so…have you gone apple picking too? still have way to many and still have no idea what to do with them. sick of eating baked apples, muffins, apple pie or apple crumbles?
we have done all of the above and let’s be honest here…as much as i love apples, we are all pretty sick of looking at them. i put them in lunch boxes, i push them as after school snacks and lord, i have even made soup (that recipe to come). so what else can you do?
how about apple chips? i have been going back and forth on ordering a dehydrator. i really really want one, i have been non stop looking at them. not only can i use them for apples but for tomatoes or even string beans…possibilities are endless and i’m fiending for one. maybe someone will read this and think, oh the food yenta needs another appliance? probably not, but until i can get my hands on one, apple chips are easy enough to do in the oven.
they are a healthy snack that everyone loves, the best part, there is only 2 ingredients…apples and some kind of non stick spray. ready?
- preheat your oven to 200 degree’s. in the meantime, slice your apples very thinly (i use a mandoline on the 3rd setting). lay out slices on your baking sheet that has been sprayed with non stick cooking spray and bake at 200 degree’s for 2 hours.
- after 2 hours, take out of the oven to cool. eat and enjoy.
- each apple depending on it’s size can make up to 20 apple chips.
Hi Meri
Just wandering my way along your fab blog and came upon this. Which is perfect timing because I’ve been looking for apple chips at Costco for my daughter. Too expensive and not as healthy as these! Can’t wait to try this over the weekend.
